How to use Estimated time on tasks
This FAQ details the Estimated time feature used in the Tasks application of a GroupCamp Project Management Software.
Estimated time allows you to assess the length of a project. During a project's execution, every time a task is completed or every time the completion percentage of a task increases, remaining estimated time are calculated and displayed in the Tasks application of a project. Estimated time can be compared with recorded time spent on tasks so that you can evaluate the difference between your estimation and the actual time spent to accomplish a project.
In this article, you will learn how to:
- Set up estimated time
- Set Time measuring unit (Hours or Days)
- Estimated time entry on a task
- Import estimated time from an Excel spreadsheet
- Display remaining estimated time to do on tasks
- See remaining estimated time sum for task list
- Estimated time indicators displayed in the Overview application
- Estimated time displayed in the Gantt view
- Dashboards and Reports

Time measuring unit in Days.
Use the Excel spreadsheet Tasks import, read this FAQ: How to import or export tasks, task lists and milestones with Excel.
When the task is not started yet, the estimated time entry is displayed.
When the task is in the process, remaining estimated time is displayed (10h x 30% = 7h)
When the task is completed (100%), the estimated time entry is greyed out.
Note: On a given task, comparing remaining estimated time with Time spent makes no sense. The comparison is valid only once the task is fully completed.
Remaining estimated time is also displayed when using the filter search on users, tags etc...
The Gantt view located in the Tasks application of a project allows you to display estimated time per task list: total, completed and remaining estimated time.
When time spent are used in the project, you can compare estimated time of completed or advanced tasks with real time spent on tasks.
