GroupCamp allows Acomais to differentiate itself from the competition with a more timely response to clients’ needs.
Business growth leverages the needs of more precise controls in projects and intern processes
AçoMais operates since 2000 in the market of steel and aluminum logistics. Installed in Olinda (northeastern region of Brazil) and serving SMBs as well as enterprises, the company has seen strong business growth in the latest years due to the high domestic growth in Brazil and to strong government investments in a regional industrial complex.
The result was a significant improvement in the business environment, and for Acomais sustained progress in the transactions volume for AçoMais. The company’s distribution center will increase its area from the current 7,000 m² to 24,000 m². The progress also brought new jobs – soon AçoMais will count on 450 employees – a medium-to-large company for Brazilian standards.
Business growth brings along new challenges, and the company needed to reorganize its processes in a way that they could better serve people who control those process especially by bringing tools that were easier to understand and accessible at any time from any device. As a result, managers and directors would be able to follow step by step all the achievements in the company’s projects. “We were looking for a tool that helped us organize the opportunities and to better develop each project”, said Fernando Filho, responsible for the company’s IT.
AçoMais searched for a management tool with a friendly interface, multiple features and that would be accessible with a simple web browser. After testing some available options, the board decided to adopt GroupCamp.
What are the main Groufeatures for AçoMais?
According to Fernando Filho, the most important features in GroupCamp is the friendly yet advanced setting modes and the powerful task assignment features. GroupCamp enables users to create projects and tasks with priority levels and time estimative, which are updated online and progress can be monitored in real time. It also enables using both “days” or “hours” as time measuring units, according to the project and the client context; and it can connect a task to a project milestone. Finally, GroupCamp allows the creation of document in Google Docs style and the generation of wikis to be used as knowledge management tools.
AçoMais directors have decided to insert all the company’s internal processes into GroupCamp. In other words, everything that each employee must execute is described as a task, which is connected to a project. And each project is related to a department. Another GroupCamp characteristic highlighted by AçoMais IT department is the possibility of receiving memos by e-mail every time a task is accomplished. This feature avoids that managers and directors have to go into the dashboard every time they want to follow the projects. The team also receives memos regarding their specific tasks, as well as a weekly reminder of all the ongoing tasks. “Everybody is informed at the same time about what is going on”, Fernando explains. He evaluates GroupCamp as a tool that responds to all the company’s functionality needs in terms of project management.
We believe shared control and better communication on projects will enable the company to be more agile and adapt to the new high growth phase before us. Cloud-based tools allows Acomais to differentiate itself from the competition with a more timely response to clients’ needs.
